How to get JDM Cars in the US?

Its the emisson standards in america that keep most jdm cars out. Ive seen a few imports on the streets(older skyline RH) But im not sure what process they go tho to make it legal for the street. Expect to pay alot of money and possibly add some of the things that make amercian cars emisson friendly
